About the author

Jim was born and raised in California where he developed a passion for learning from his grandfather, General Crockett, Jim's father passed when he was 5 so his grandfather was like a father to him. His grandfather instilled morality and a love of knowledge to young Jim. It is because of this passion that Jim has pursued education as a career.
After graduating High school Jim obtained his undergraduate degree in psychology from Allegheny College in Pennsylvania. He received his master's degree in psychology from Sonoma State University in California and his Ph.D., in psychology from Saybrook University in San Francisco. Doing his doctoral research at Maimonides Community Mental Health Center in New York City.

He worked as an Internal Auditor for a Bank, became a Divisional Controller for Coca Cola of the Southwest and finished his corporate experience as AVP for San Antonio Credit Union, then started UT's MBA program.
Jim started his professional career in education over 30 years ago. He was hired out of the MBA program at the University of Texas and started working at a large school district in San Antonio, essentially under one Superintendent. He rose from the ranks to become the top financial and accounting executive at the district. After leaving the district Jim became an investment banker, he had a chance encounter with a ski buddy talking Jim into coming back into the education field to work at Dallas ISD. As the Chief Financial Officer at Dallas he implemented a new pay system close to his heart based on the performance or effectiveness of teachers and school administrators.
During his school administrative life, he earned his Certified Public Accountants, CPA, Black Belt in Six Sigma form General Electric, and is honored as Chief Financial Officer of the year for governmental accounting while at Dallas ISD.
