Description:
London: Abstract Sounds Books Ltd, 2011. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine. An idiosyncratic survey of the pre-Christian religious practices of Scandinavia. The notoriously outspoken Varg Vikernes (b.1973) rose to prominence in the Norwegian black metal scene as Count Grishnackh with his one-man music project Burzum and as the bassist for Mayhem. Implicated in the burning of four Christian churches in Norway, he fatally stabbed Mayhem guitarist Euronymous and was sentenced to 21 years in prison, the maximum penalty under Norwegian law. Released in 2009, Vikernes moved to France where he has continued to write and make music, while also espousing far-right views and advocating for a pre-industrial European pagan society. 127 p. with textual illustrations. Octavo. Original white cloth binding, with decorative silver stamping. A fine copy, housed in the publisher's slipcase.
