The co-authors of Radical Rules for Schools: Adaptive Action for Complex Change work individually and as a team to build adaptive capacity among their clients, students, and colleagues. Each author brings her own experience and insights to this shared project. Leslie Patterson, Ph.D., collaborates with students and colleagues to explore conditions for generative teaching and learning in K-12 and university classrooms. Leslie's insights, framed by principles of Human Systems Dynamics, connect these Radical Rules to literacy and learning theory and also to teaching practices for learners of all ages. Royce Holladay, M.Ed., spent almost twenty years working on school reform inside school districts. Recognizing the complexity of organizational and policy challenges faced by public education, Royce sees that the Radical Rules offer a powerful foundation. She uses principles of HSD as the grounding for her ongoing commitment to generative teaching and learning. Glenda Eoyang, Ph.D., founder of the field of Human Systems Dynamics, is a philosopher, entrepreneur, and consultant. But she is first and foremost a teacher. Using Radical Rules in her own practice, she establishes conditions to build adaptive capacity among her students and clients around the world.
