The text is illustrated with black and white illustrations by Peter Chapman. 1/4 black coloured cloth covered backstrip with gilt coloured titles. 3/4 red coloured boards. Illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound), again by Peter Chapman, with red and black coloured titles to the front panel and backstrip. Black and white photo of author to the rear fold over panel. Set in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales at the beginning of the 20th century, and of Missalonghi Wright and her breaking free of her drab existence (and not to mention all the other put upon and despised women of her family). Rubbing of the book edges and there are some stains the front panel age toning of the text block edges and pages. Rubbing of the dustwrapper edges and panels with some fading to the back strip.
