Book Condition: Good +; light shelfwear to head, tail, and board bottom edges;small scuff on the rear board. DJ: Good +; NOT Price Clipped ($10.95); small torn hole on rear panel; chipping to head and upper tips; small closed tear at tail. Blue boards and spine with bright gilt lettering on the spine. 191 pp 8vo. The author graduated from high school in 1942 and he set out to achieve his dream of being a combat fighter pilot. He applied to and was accepted in the Army Air Corps and completed Basic Flying School and Advance Flying School in Texas and was assigned to a P-40 training unit at Eagle Pass, TX. He then went to New Guinea and flew the P-51 Mustang with the Fifth Fighter Command Headquarters, Fifth Air Force, 348th Fighter Group. The remainder of his time was flying combat support in the Philippines, Le Shima, and to the end of the war. The book is filled with stories and reminiscences of basic training, flight training, and combat aviation. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
