About This Item

Singapore: Cultured Lotus, 2011. Paperback. Very Good. An unusual account of the fall of Singapore to the Japanese in 1942, that does not focus on operational issues, but rather the decision making processes, or lack of them, that took place in both London and in Malaya. The author is a US historian, specialising in late British colonial history and so is able to take a more dispassionate view of the events, particularly Churchill's bluff in hoping that Singapore would survive so as to keep the British Empire in tact. 293 pages. For further details, please see the scanned contents page. Weight 0.6kg. Post free within Malaysia The cover has hardly any signs of wear, the text block has a fair amount of spotting and there is mild tanning throughout.
