About This Item
New York: Henry Holt and Company, 1924. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 8" by 5". Not Stated. A signed presentation copy of the first edition of this collection of short parodies by Christopher Ward. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding. A very scarce author's presentation copy of this work, signed by the author to the front free end paper: 'To Margaret Cuthbert, Queen of the Air - so far as I am concerned. June 7 1928. Christopher Ward'. It is thus possible that this this work belonged to the library of Margaret Cuthbert (1887-1968), the pioneering radio broadcaster who worked hard to develop programming for women and children, groups which were previously underrepresented in radio. A collection of short stories by Christopher Ward, which parody the popular sensational literature of the day. These short stories originally appeared in the Literary Review of The New York Evening Post and The Saturday Review of Literature. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart with marks to the front board and spine, and very light shelf wear to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good
