"A small book of trees grouped together in families one commonly meets in the eastern half of the country including Canada and the United States." Illustrated in color and black and white from photographs.
Condition: Dark forest green textured flexible faux leather boards with gold gilt text to the front cover and spine. There is rubbing to both the front and rear board edges, but they are sturdy with no other blemishes. Corners were rounded at publication with wear to the edges. The spine is straight, firmly attached, and with no cracking to endpapers but the back strip has been worn off along the top and bottom. Binding and text block are solid. Age tanning throughout. Interior pages are clean with no chips, tears, or previous owner marks.
Julia Ellen Rogers (1866 – 1958) was born in Iowa where she attended Iowa State University and then obtained a master's degree in botany at Cornell University. She went on to become an American author and educator in various fields on natural history and science. Her numerous books were popular with some being reprinted several times and were targeted for the general reader,
