Presents a collection of eight essays inspired by the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg, noted theologian, philosopher, mystic and scientist. Essays include "Swedenborg and the New Church," "The Sacred Scriptures," "The Divine Nature and Providence," "The Incarnation and Redemption," "The Holy Spirit and Regeneration," "The Spiritual World," "Death, Resurrection, and Judgment," and "Marriage." Although the publisher is listed as Houghton, Osgood and Company on the title page, at bottom spine it reads Houghton, Mifflin & Co. Green cloth w/gilt spine lettering, bevelled edges, top edge gilt, 143 pages. Bumped/moderately worn corners/spine ends, lightly scuffed/scraped cloth, moderate soil.
