A delightful first edition containing the music and lyrics of Gilbert and Sullivan, in the original, vanishingly scarce dust wrapper. First edition, in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with the exceedingly scarce original, unclipped dust wrapper.Dated using Jisc, from copies of the work held at the University of Cambridge libraries. This work is comprised of music, lyrics and illustrations by famed Victorian musical duo, Gilbert and Sullivan. Between them, the dramatist and the composer collaborated on fourteen comic operas, with countless songs and melodies. This particular work is comprised of words and illustrations by W. S. Gilbert and music by Arthur Sullivan. With sixty-six songs included in the work, which all appear in various operas by Gilbert and Sullivan. With vignettes throughout to accompany the music.Ink inscription of S. J. Homewood to the front endpaper. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with the original, unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, excellent, with light bumping to the extremities and the occasional light mark. A touch of rubbing to the head and tail of the spine. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Dust wrapper is sound, with chipping and slight loss to the extremities and to the spine. Rubbing the the wrap, and slight darkening the the spine. Tape repair to the spine and to the reverse of the wrap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
