[24 cm]. 1/4 maroon paper over evergreen boards with gilt stamped author's initials on front board and gilt title stamped on spine. Marbled endpapers. Original dust jacket is in near fine condition, with some gentle wear to edges. Head and tail of spine exhibiting signs of shelf wear. Corners bumped. Zafón's frame narrative of an antiquarian bookseller's encounter with a rare, one-of-a-kind book from a secret library labyrinth sets the protagonist on a search to solve a decades old forgotten mystery. Stephen King noted in "Entertainment Weekly" that the book was a superb example of a contemporary gothic novel.
