About This Item
"Second Base Sloan" by CHRISTY MATHEWSON, the famous Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher. 1917; Grosset & Dunlap; New York. The book features a baseball-themed front cover and spine, and four full-page illustrations by E.C. Caswell (all illustrations are present).
Condition:
Light soiling to the back cover and spine; the front cover has a couple small stains at the right edge. Tiny cloth tear at the top-left corner of the back cover. The green cloth on the spine has partially sun-faded. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are lightly age-toned, though not brittle. Pages 164-169 have foxing at the outer margin. An occasional random page has a small foxing spot or a smudge at an outer edge. Inscription written in pen on the front pastedown. Overall the book is in Good condition.
