It gives a vivid idea of the cultural heritage of a disappearing desert civilization, which both mentally and physically was ideally adapted to its environment. Safeya Binzagr and her sister Olfet have collaborated to give a written background to, and an explanation of, the pictures selected for this book. In particular the significance of various details, whether of costume or of tradition, are clearly and lovingly explained by the artist. Here then, is an invaluable tool for all those interested in the past history and traditions of one of the most interesting--as it is one of the least known of the influential countries of our time.
