About This Item

Valor Publishing, 1987. First Edition. Paperback. Madeja, W. Victor : The Russo-German War, 25 January to 8 May, 1945. Allentown (PA) : Valor Publishing PB, 1987. First edition. Demy quarto (4to) size, 10 7/8"/28cm h. Bound in publisher's glossy stock wrappers glued to textblock; front cover features color reprod of German situation map for Army Group Center, 4 May, 1945, while rear cover similarly features situation map of 19 Feb 1945 for Army Groups Center and Vistula. [iv] pp prelim material, 74 numbered pp, plus three additional glossy leaves inserted to text with color maps printed on one side (only) - thus total number of leaves/sheets is 42. 31 separate orders of battle for German army groups during the period in question, along with 14 tables/charts, 42 b&w maps, six color glossy maps, and a table of abbreviations. Condition notes: About 30 pages have fairly discreet yellow highlighting of specific unit names/locations. Otherwise no notes or highlighting. Pages clean, binding sound. Light wear to cover. An extremely data-rich and interesting volume for those interested in the Russo-German War of 1941-45 (the "Eastern Front" of the European Theater of WWII). Russian units/strengths are treated on maps, in tables, and in descriptive text, but not in OOBs. Author/editor Madeja acknowledges that much of the text in the volume is taken directly from US army and captured German army records, but it is not clear where the line is between Madeja's writing and those records. The volume freely editorializes on Cold War implications from the 1941-45 war. We personally inspect every book we offer.
