Limited to one hundred and fifty copies on Holland paper. Illustrated with portrait frontispiece and a loose score of Tempo di Marcia. A collection of poetry composed by the writer around the age of eighteen. Written in a range of verse forms to illustrate attempts to imitate other well-established poets before finding his own Romantic style. With an autobiography. Written by Theophile Gautier, a French poet, novelist, journalist, dramatist, and critic. Previously held in the library of Octave Uzanne, a French bibliophile, writer, journalist, and publisher. In the original cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd spot. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. Very Good
