About This Item
London: Digby, Long & Co., 1902. First edition. Cloth. Very Good. 7.5" by 5.5". Not Stated. A first edition copy of this very scarce work by Robert Cromie, both a journalist and a writer of science fiction novels. The first edition, first impression of this very scarce work in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to the verso of the half title page. Robert Cromie (1855-1907) was an Irish journalist and novelist. This science fiction novel was one of his later works, featuring an advanced submarine and an attempted German take over of the world, and is very rarely seen. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with shelf wear to the joints and extremities. Remnants of a bookplate to the front paste down. Front hinge is slightly strained but held firmly. Internally, firmly bound. Marginal age toning to pages, and the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages; otherwise pages remain clean. Very Good
