The first edition of this fascinating volume by Bernard Grebanier, who proposes this study of the career of William Henry Ireland; he was an English forger known for having forged Shakespearean documents and plays. This volume explores the human story behind young Ireland's fabrications. Grebanier tells this story of fraud and detection with much wit and elegance. Illustrated with various full page plates. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally excellent with minor shelf wear only and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The dust wrapper is unclipped and very smart with some shelf wear and edge wear, a slight chipping to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. With a minor faint spotting to the fore edge, not affecting the pages which are bright and clean. Illustrated with various full page plates. Very Good Indeed
