New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1959. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Very Good. Inscribed by Macdonald on the front endpaper. Good in a Very Good jacket, unclipped ($3.00), soiled at the back panel, rubbed and with a few creases and small chips at the edges. Red patterned paper on the boards, rubbed at the edges. Firmly bound with a forward lean, green top stain, clean internally. The eighth Lew Archer novel, considered by Tom Nolan to be one of the first of Macdonald's serious works.
