FIRST EDITION in two volumes. Near Fine
Henry Colburn, London. 1840
Travel guide in 2 volumes on the Scandinavian countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden and including notices on public opinion and anecdotes on the their courts.
Both volumes are contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Very little shelf wear. Raised bands on spine with gilt lettering and vignettes embossed. Morocco labels. Small darkened blemish near head of spine on Vol 2 (see images, barely perceptible).
All edges marbled.
Vol 1. xx 374 pp with frontispiece of Frederick V1 King of Denmark
Vol 2. xv1 480 pp with frontispiece of Charles X1V John King of Sweden and Norway.
Vol 1 near Fine with just a suggestion of spotting to title page. Internally clean with no markings. Small closed tear of approx 1.5 cms to title page.
Vol 2 near Fine with some light spotting to prelims only. Internally clean with no markings.
Both volumes have small label of bookseller on front pastedowns. Also bookplate of previous owner on both front pastedowns with imprint of bookplate on each front blank.
Two excellent attractive volumes
