London.: Edward Arnold & Co.. 1926.. 2 maps, 16 black and white photographic illustrations, including frontispiece, tan cloth covered boards lettered in brown, 319pp, index, 16 pages of publisher's advertisments dated Autumn 1926. Some late 20th century Himalayan related news clippings loosely inserted. Inscriptions on front free endpaper, faint scattered foxing, minor cloth split at head of spine but a firm and sound copy of the first edition. 20 x 14cm. An account of the three British Mount Everest Exhibitions. In 1919, Younghusband was elected President of the Royal Geographical Society, and two years later became Chairman of the Mount Everest Committee which was set up to coordinate the initial 1921 British Reconnaissance Expedition to Mount Everest. He actively encouraged the accomplished climber George Mallory to attempt the first ascent of Mount Everest, and they followed the same initial route as the earlier Tibet Mission. Younghusband remained Chairman through the subsequent 1922 and 1924 British Expeditions. .
