About This Item
Houston, Texas: Herring Press, 2007. Book. Fine. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). First Edition. Red cloth with white lettering in a French fold dust jacket. 128 pages with Index to Photographs. One-hundred twelve fine art photographs based on eleven projects of construction of buildings and other structures in Houston, taken from 1985 to 2007. Pages 17-118 comprise the color photograph collection for this book. Gertsman contributed the Preface, followed by Vision and Collaboration, by Tadd Tellepsen; Visionary Camera, by Ann Holmes; Beauty in the Details, by Barrie Scardino; To catch a moment of beauty, by Janusz A. Ihnatowicz; and Photographs of out-of-space, by Kristian Feigelson. Gerald Moorhead, FAIA wrote the conclusion. Photographer Gertsman (1925-2013) was born in Moscow, received an M.D. with a specialty in surgery, and settled in Houston in 1974. He had long had an interest in art and photography, but only since 1981 did he begin to exhibit his photographs and sculpture while still practicing medicine. This book was his third publication of his photographic work. His photographs are now in private and public collections around the world. This is an oversized book (about 12 X 12 inches square) that will require extra postage for expedited and international delivery..
