This was the porcelain manufactured for the European market under the auspices of the great Charter Companies. Portugal, Spain, Holland, England, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Denmark, the Jesuits, and the U.S. were all engaged in this trade. The form and decoration of Chinese export porcelain and their artistic debt to the West are fully described; historical surveys of the Far Eastern connections of each of the countries name above, and a systematic analysis of the characteristics peculiar to the porcelain destined for each of those countries. Descriptive catalogue of nearly 250 outstanding pieces--vases, dishes, figures, etc.
