VG/No Jacket. 17 Cms x 25.5 Cms. f/oiece w. tissue-guard (author on horseback)+xiv+247, front and bottom edges uncut; heavy tanning to recto of a blank frony fly leaf, same verso final page, faint tanning strips to outer sides of endpapers presumably off-set from now absent jacket, flecks also to text-block edges, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked; covers clean and barely worn but slight fading to spine and adjacent strip of front board. Uncommon. The author (1852-1936) was well known and colourful figure whose career ranged from cattle ranching in Argentina and troublesome left-wing M.P.to leading Scottish nationalist as well as being a prolific author (mainly of books on South America and short stories).
