Lim Kean Siew was one of Penang's best known lawyers and politicians in the period that led to Malaya's independence. This book starts where the author's previous memoir finished, i.e.at the start of the Japanese invasion of Malaya in late 1941 through to the dropping of the atom bomb which ended the war. Although Lim Kean Siew and most of his family friends and associates had no truck with the Japanese, he explains how their audacious strike against British colonialism sparked the movement for independece. 276 pages.
