New York: The Cloisters / The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1958. Hardcover. Small 4to. Faux vellum with gilt lettering, slipcase with wraparound paper label. (Ca. 75pp). 32 full-page color plates, single sepia-tone plate. Near fine/very good. Faint slipcase wear only. Handsome first of this edition, introduced by the Metropolitan's noted director and with Cloisters curator Margaret B. Freeman providing explanatory texts for each of its color plates. The celebrated Book of Hours is one of the most famous illuminated manuscripts of the 15th century.
