A smart first edition copy of this illustrated study on Anglo-Saxon art by the eminent art historian Sir Thomas Downing Kendrick. The first edition.Sir Thomas Downing Kendrick's detailed exploration of Anglo-Saxon art, a fascinating look at ancient humanity, up to 900 A.D.This book was based upon lectures Kendrick gave at the Courtauld Institute of Art.Illustrated with one-hundred and four plates, and in-text engravings. Kendrick was a archaeologist and art historian, working at the British Museum throughout his career.Collated, complete. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Very light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is very lightly faded. Cloth to the rear joint is a little cockled. Only a few minor marks to the boards and spine. Internally, generally firmly bound, binding a little strained in placed. Pages are bright and clean with some occasional scattered spots, a little heavier to the endpapers. Very Good
