First edition, first printing, first issue with vol i - 32pp ads dated April 1867 and five errata on 6 lines on pvi and vol ii with single advertisement dated February 1868 to rear and 9 errata on 7 lines on pviii. Complete in two volumes housed in a bespoke quarter green morocco gilt clamshell case with raised bands to spine. A very good+/near fine set. Clean boards with light wear to extremities. Bright gilt. No marks to boards of vol i & a couple of small scuffs & a few small bubbles to cloth on vol ii; Tiny Victorian booksellers label to endpaper "Howell & Day, New Street, Birmingham". Internally complete and clean. Old rubbed out pencil name to rear of endpaper in vol i and a few spots to blank endpapers only. No inscriptions. Original black endpapers uncracked on volume i and cracking to volume ii - textblock still very tight and firm.
