Auster's first collection of original poems (preceded by the mimeo collection of his translations from French poets), this copy has been inscribed and signed by Auster to fellow poet Christopher Middleton. With spaces and check boxes for collection of data and a "Message from the President of the United States" printed over a facsimile signature of Franklin D. Roosevelt addressed "To Every Worker. . ." Distinctive relic of the New Deal era.

Feature films described include works by Kunio Watanabe, Manao Horiuchi, Noboru Nakamura, Eizo Sugawa, Noriyuki Itaya, Toshio Sugie, Yasuzo Masumura, Kon Ichikawa, Nobuo Nakagawa, Morihei Magatani, kokichi Uchida, Tai Kato, Miyoji Ieki, Yoichi Ushihara, and Eisuke Takizawa.

Los Angeles: Citizens Committee to Free Browder, 1942. Edges toned; pencil notation to upper corner; slight wear at tips and edges. Bifolium, approx. 6 x 8-1/2 in., printed on all sides. Fragile leaflet announcing a rally in support of the jailed CPUSA leader, including a message about Browder's case by labor lawyer Leo Gallagher. The event was held at the Embassy Auditorium in downtown LA.

Washington DC: National Committee to Win the Peace, 1947. Two small pencil marks; rubberstamp on rear. Four-page leaflet printed on a single bifolium, approx. 8-1/2 X 11 inches. Appeal for post-war negotiations in the newly nuclear world, with portraits on the front panel of co-chairs Col. Evans Carlson and artist/activist Paul Robeson. The National Committee to Win the Peace was successor organization to the American Peace Mobilization. The rubber stamp on the rear is that a California affiliate, Mobilization for Democracy.

New York: Roger Stevens, 1964. Few chips and nicks, excellent copies.. Two vols; 4to, 145pp & 160pp, bolt bound in printed leatherette wrappers of the Hart Stenographic Bureau. Two distinct and textually variant versions of Bellow's only full-length play, upon which he labored relentlessly, drafting and re-drafting to the annoyance of his collaborators. The play centers on the character of a retired Jewish comedian reflecting on his life. Intriguingly, one of the present scripts, numbered "1" in the top corner of the title leaf, has Milton Berle's name and two telephone numbers penciled to the same leaf. The final version of the play was published as "The Last Analysis.
