General wear with chipping, short tears, toning, and rubbing [though there are issues, I admit to finding them appropriate for both the imagery of the jacket and the content of the book]. Bound in red cloth over boards with black lettering on the front and spine. Darkening at edges, some rubbing, and one slightly bumped corner. Red top-stain. Short inscription on front pastedown and former seller notes in pencil on ffep. The interior is lightly and evenly toned, it is clean and clear with strong text.  Pages: 429 (1)     Dimensions: 7¾ x 5½ x 1½.

Aged toning to jacket, darkened spine, chiping and closed tears, all relatively minor. Blue cloth over boards with gilding on spine. Spine and edges slightly faded. Insert advertisement for, "The Stepson," by, Martin Armstrong, inside front cover. Some foxing to edges, half-title, and title - I did not see additional spotting. First edition collection of adventure and naval stories from a former WWII allied ship captain and Great Barrier Reef tour operator. In original unclipped jacket in protective sheet. Minor wear at edges and one chip toward head of spine. Blue cloth over boards with gilded facsimile signature on front and gilding on spine. Slight lean, else fine. Minor spots on edges. Title, author, and pubisher on spine. Stained top fore edge, faded. Stains to back cover, shelf wear and light fraying just to edges, no tears, lightly toned interior, text clear. Custom cut mylar sheets.

Carlsruhe (Karlsruhe): Christian Gottlieb Schmieder, 1779. 2nd. Good+. Binding solidly holding together but well worn at spine and corners. Corners are rounded; spine is worn with majority of leather and design chipping away - title and author still mostly visible. Raised bands visible. Edges in red. Ribbon bookmark present. Pages are mostly clean and clear with only sporadic and minimal browing and very light foxing on a few pages. Christian Gottlieb Schmieder, was a printer who reprinted works from other areas of Germany much to the annoyance of the original publishers. This book is part of his, Collection of the Best German Prosaic Writers and Poets. These books were intended to be cheaper and more broadly available but continued to be controversial. Title translates to: Collection of the best German prose writers and poets, one and ninety parts. History of Carl Ferdiner.

Franklin Center: The Franklin Library, 1981. Fine. From the 'The Greatest Books of the Twientieth Century' collection. Contains: Waiting for 'Godot,' 'Endgame,' and 'Krapp's Last Tape.' Bound in black leather over boards with gilded designs and lettering on front, spine, and back. Four raised bands on spine. Gilded edges. Silk bookmark ribbon and moire silk endpapers. With two small marks on the front cover, almost invisible but separating it from being As New. In unopened condition with very tight spine (pictures taken carefully). Pages: (10) 278     Dimensions: 8¾ x 6⅛ x 1½ .

In original jacket in protective sheet, adhered to covers. Pencil notes on a few preliminary pages. The interior is clean and clear. Pages: (6) 185     Dimensions: 8¼ x 5¾ x ⅞  .

London: Jacob Tonson, 1693. First Edition. Near Fine. First edition of this English translation of the works of Decimus Junius Juvenalis and Aulus Persius Flaccus. Translated by John Dryden into verse. Modern (early 20th century) binding with light green cloth, leather spine, and leather corners over boards. Five raised bands on spine with stamps and gilding. Some rubbing to leather and minor scuff to cloth. Gilded top-edge. Textured marble endpapers. Front endpaper with some residue where former bookmark was removed. Some creasing in pages, likely from original printing and age. Very solid, square, clean, and all text is clear. Overall near fine in later binding.  Pages: (56) 315, (2) 87     Dimensions: 13 x 9 x 1½.

Second or later edition, no date listed but assumed 1940's based on paper and binding. Red cloth over boards with gilded lettering in and frames around black labels on front and spine. Corners bumped and light fraying at same. Top fore edge stained dark blue. Interior is lightly toned, otherwise clean and clear.
