Thomas Mann
Pariser Rechenschaft
Published by S. Fischer Verlag, Berlin in 1926
Original Cardboard Binding

First Edition
Paul Thomas Mann (1875 – 1955) was a German novelist, short story writer, social critic, philanthropist, essayist, and the 1929 Nobel Prize in Literature laureate. His highly symbolic and ironic epic novels and novellas are noted for their insight into the psychology of the artist and the intellectual.
Thomas Mann's trip to Paris in January 1926 was an adventure of the first order - the political fronts between Germany and France were still hardened and prejudices on both sides were booming. In the role of an unofficial cultural ambassador for the Weimar Republic, Thomas Mann promoted German-French friendship and international understanding. His notes document the extremely warm welcome and numerous conversations with political and literary personalities.
