Baltimore, Maryland: Genealogical Publishing Company, 1969. Reprint of edition originally published in 1915. Hardcover. Very Good. 6 1/4 x 9 1/4. 2J. Cloth-covered boards, signature-sewn. An important reference. This is a reissue, but it is NOT a cheap recent glue-bound productiion. It was printed in 1969, and is signature-sewn and bound in stout, library-grade real cloth, with gilt titles. The hinges are good (no looseness, or tears to the endpapers) and there are no marks to the text. It is extremely solid and will survive a great deal of use. There is a little shelf-wear to the cloth at the lower edge. There are a few small spots on the fore-edge, and a smudge on the bottom edge, else pretty clean. Name and date in ink on the front pastedown.

Mild wear and some sunning to covers.

Inscribed, signed and dated by McMillan on the half-title page. There are several binder's faults: the rear endpaper is attached a bit askew, and there is a mark on the front cover that also looks to be how the book came from the binder; and the binder's glue is showing through at the front cover join. Binding tight, spine square. Aside from the author's inscription there are no marks. A couple pages have tiny corner creases. A few faint marks top and bottom page-edges and front endpaper. Unclipped dustjacket has some shredding at the spine-ends and lower edge, and some small chips at the lower corners; Spine and a bit of the front panel are sun-faded; and showing a bit of shelf-soil on the back panel.

Notwithstanding the 1970 date, this book is obviously (by the freshness of its condition and the 13-digit ISBN on the label on the back panel of the dustjacket) a recent printing. The book is nearly as new, with tight binding and intact hinges; no marks. The real cloth covers show only the slightest wear, with a faint vertical crease down the length of the spine. The red spine-label and gilt titles are bright. One pinprick spot and a small smudge on fore-edge, and a couple small spots on the rear endpaper. Unclipped dustjacket has one tiny chip; the white spine has some faint smudges; else little wear.
