1728. NEWTON, Isaac (1642-1727). The Chronology of Ancient Kingdoms Amended. To Which is Prefix'd, a Short Chronicle from the First Memory of Things in Europe, to the Conquest of Persia by Alexander the Great. London: J. Tonson, J. Osborn and T. Longman, 1728. Engraved head-piece and initial by P. Foudrinier, 3 folding engraved plates. Contemporary Cambridge panelled calf, rebacked with red morocco spine label; internally some foxing and toning. First edition, A LARGE PAPER COPY, measuring 285 x 222 mm ; i.e. taller than the Babson copy (264mm) and the Green copy (281mm) of the large paper issue. Complete collection of eight volumes each adorned with a beautiful frontispiece depicting the subject treated and finely enhanced in colour. Embroidery, song, dance, drawing, home economics, writing, gymnastic exercises and reading. Rare set.
Gumuchian n ° 921, list booklet. OCLC lists Royal Library Netherlands, V&A, University of California and Lily Library but only with four books (out of 8).

ALL-DE for N.FOSBROOKE, 1627. Small 4to., 3 preliminary leaves, 174 (i.e. 214), [19] pages, 18 cm. Black letter, a few woodcut initials, two small perforated library stamps, some inner damsoyaining to last leaves, 1 leaf of table with small partial lossy to margin just touching text, last table leaf half cut and rebacked without loss, some very minor lower edge gnawing. Binding: 19th century vellum, marbled endpapers, white library marking to spine, bookplate, library pocket to inner rear board. STC 16960. VERY RARE.
