Spine backed in pale, blue-grey silk and knotted twice at the front shoulder with pale beige thread. Previous owner's faded ink scrawl "Nov. 1910 / From Mrs. [D.B.?]." Some soiling to outer wraps, with appx. 1.5 inch closed tear to rear wrapper, mended with a small piece of clear tape to verso. Bound with double leaves, folded at fore edge. Uniformly toned, some corners and edges creased, light soiling throughout. Descriptions of Japanese homes, customs, holidays, music, and art, with numerous color illustrations. Copyright page in Japanese, date (roughly) translated to "Edition August 13, 25th year of Meiji.

Endpapers have darkened offsetting from laid in newsclippings and what was likely once a protective jacket, no longer present. Previous owner's ink gift inscription to ffep. Binding gently cracked but holding. Black and white photo illustrations throughout. A story of Arctic exploration and life among the Eskimos, written for children and centered around the adventures of Peary's 6 year old daughter, Marie "Ahnighito." At rear, laid in and pasted on are three news clippings spanning decades and relating to the Peary family: "Peary's Daughter Marries Mariner," "To Unveil Peary Memorial" (dated in ink 1922), and "Peary's Grandson Killed" (dated in ink 1946).

Large paper edition, with 150 copies printed for England and 100 for America, this copy is a salesman's dummy, showing both editions in one. Examples of the UK edition's green cloth and gilt binding are adhered to to front and rear pastedowns, showing gilt cover designs and decorative gilt spine. Filled with black and white illustrations. Last bolt remains uncut. Binding slightly cracked at center, but otherwise fine.

A humorous bestiary of sorts, featuring entries such as "A Swallow" (man drinking rum), "The Chetah" (cheater), and a previous owner's pencil sketch next to the image of "A Little Bare" (scantily clad woman).

Case is bound in quarter red calf with 5 raised bands to spine and gilt text ("Casanova" to second panel and "ILLS" at foot). Red cloth boards and chemise enclosure, with beige silk ribbon pull. Though lacking original case as well as signed and numbered leaf, this set was produced in a limited edition of 275 copies. Printed on watermarked Arches paper, each leaf measuring 9 3/4 x 6 3/4 in., with plate lines measuring 5 1/4 x 3 1/2 in. Etchings in fine condition, illustrating the erotic adventures of Casanova.
