Description:
Very Good. Hardcover. This Buddhist prayer book is composed of eight jade plaques, each mounted on a brocade fabric board and bound together in black boards. Jade plaques are engraved on both sides and all characters and illustrations are gilt; they each measure 6" x 2 ½". Content is in Chinese. Undated but we believe this to be published in the 20th century. Black boards have moderate wear and soiling, and minor chipping; fabric brocade boards have minor fraying; jade plaques have minor imperfections (but it is unclear if this is wear or part of the stone's character). The text of this prayer book is the Cheng Weishi Lun, the definitive discourse on the nature of the mind and its spiritual restoration by Tang dynasty monk Xuanzang. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
