In 1883/1884, ca. 600 Piegan Indians starved to death due to buffalo extinction and the government’s neglect to supply food aid.The author, “Will C Suitt,” originally from Scioto, Ohio, was a 25-year-old soldier and an E flat cornet player in the 18th U.S. Infantry.
