Description:
Sale, 1802. 15,[1],14,[1]pp. Dbd. Final leaf torn, affecting a few words in the advertisement. Two small holes throughout, growing larger toward the rear, affecting a few words on each page of the final seven leaves. A fair copy. An ambitious proposal for a new world geography. Nancrede and Macanulty begin by heavily criticizing extant atlases (including that of Mathew Carey), and end by outlining their ambitious work, to be authored by the noted geographer, James Tytler. Designed as three octavo volumes and one atlas, this text would illustrate the use of globes, offer a general history of mankind, religion, and the earth, and include descriptions of particular countries. The second portion is a supplement, containing a review of Pinkerton's MODERN GEOGRAPHY. A scarce Salem imprint. SHAW & SHOEMAKER 2723, 2724. OCLC 23272910, 80557241.

Cloth rubbed and edgeworn, spine label a bit chipped. Foxing throughout. Good plus. The only edition of this scarce Native American missionary narrative which, according to Howes, is based on an anonymous 18th-century account of a missionary who worked around the Great Lakes. Earlier bibliographies record the imprint date as either 1855 or 1856, but the Siebert copy, with a school label dated April 8, 1854, provides concrete evidence of earlier publication. Not in Field. Hartford: Case, Lockwood & Brainard, Printers, 1871.. 4pp. on a single folded quarto sheet. Light edge wear. Near fine. An important publication by the National Woman Suffrage and Educational Committee, published in Hartford just after the group's national convention in Washington, D.C. and ahead of the group's next national convention on May 11, 1871 in New York City. The text boldly "calls upon all women who love their children and their country" to take up the cause of suffrage, asserting: "This is pre- eminently the birth-day of womanhood."
