Faint smudging front cover. Clipped dustjacket sunned at spine and top 1" of front panel, with light creasing tail of spine and some shelf-soil to back panel, but very little edgewear and no chips or tears. Small label shadow front flap (no scuffing).

A nice copy with tight binding and square, uncreased spine. No marks. Faint smudging fore-edge. Unclipped dustjacket has hardly any wear, but "French Ichthyology" has been inked in on spine.

The color reproduction is okay for 1970, but doesn't measure up to present standards. A solid copy, opening widely but sewn binding is firm, with strong hinges and square spine. No marks. Ribbon marker rather limp. A few smudges rear flyleaf. Boards a little bowed. Lower corners bumped. Unclipped dustjacket has a lot of wear and shredding at the edges.

Wheaton, Illinois: Theosophical Publishing House, 1970. (Much) later printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. 5 5/8 x 8 1/2. 3H. Sewn binding in cloth-covered boards, with dustjacket. Indexed. Notwithstanding the 1970 date, this book is obviously (by the freshness of its condition and the 13-digit ISBN on the label on the back panel of the dustjacket) a recent printing. The book is nearly as new, with tight binding and intact hinges; no marks. The real cloth covers show only the slightest wear, with a faint vertical crease down the length of the spine. The red spine-label and gilt titles are bright. One pinprick spot and a small smudge on fore-edge, and a couple small spots on the rear endpaper. Unclipped dustjacket has one tiny chip; the white spine has some faint smudges; else little wear.

Some tiny stains to top and bottom page-edges; fore-edge is toned but clean. Unclipped dustjacket is largely complete, but with considerable wear, creasing and soil. 1/2" tear top back corner. Some foxing inside, and a water stain at the top of the front flap which however doesn't show from the outside.
