From wikipedia: Henry Carter Stuart (January 18, 1855 - July 24, 1933) was an American businessman and politician from Virginia. Greenville, South Carolina: G. E. Elford's Press, 1862. Broadside. Good. Broadside (printed front side only). Approx. 9.5" x 5". Three folds. Light creases and toning to the paper. One stanza has light pencil underlining. This poem appeared in an 1862 publication titled "War Songs of the South" edited by "Bohemian" [William G. Shepperson]. The book was published in Richmond 1862 by West and Johnson (a Confederate imprint). Shepperson attributes the poem to author "Caroline Howard Glover" from the Charleston Mercury. Caroline Howard Glover was the daughter of Rev. Samuel Gilman and widow of South Carolina Planter William Glover. The same poem was included in "War Poetry of the South" edited by William Gilmore Simms. It was published in New York 1866 by Richardson & Company. Simms names the author as "Caroline H. From wikipedia: Finally, on July 7, 1948, with his Cleveland Indians in a pennant race and in desperate need of pitching,[citation needed] Indians owner Bill Veeck brought Paige in to try out with Indians player-manager Lou Boudreau.
