In original jacket showing '7/6 net' price on spine and in clear protective sheet. General wear with light rubbing and chipping but with large chip missing from head of spine (previous owner photocopied what is there and laid it behind within the sheet to partially make up for the loss - loose). Blue cloth over boards with black lettering on front and spine. Boards somewhat faded, crease along spine, minor rubing and beginning of a fray at lower edges (very minor at present). Long and lower edges with some staining, but no impacts found inside. Interior is evenly toned, otherwise clean and clear. New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1922. First Edition. Near Fine/Very Good. First edition, first state, in original, unclipped, jacket in protective sheet. Dedicated, dated, and signed by the author with a handwritten poem, 'The Undiscovered Country,' in the author's hand - all on the front-free-endpaper. I can find no other copies of this poem in print or elsewhere. Jacket with some rubbing and spotting. chips near the head of the spine, chips at corners and some tears as well; overall presents very well despite notes. Bound in black cloth over boards with gilded lettering (front and spine) and the image of a panther on the front. The spine is spotted, otheriwse fine, solid, and square. Deckled long edge. In original red wrappers, softcover, and in protective sheet. Gentle wear to the wrappers, one one-inch tear along spine. In original unclipped dust jacket in mylar with light rubbing to edges and a few small chips to head, tail, and back. Red boards with impressed letters, darker red spine with gilded lettering. Deckled long fore edge, yellow stained top fore edge. Interior is very clean, clear, and crisp.

London: Leonard Smithers and Co, 1899. First English Edition. Very Good to Near Fine. First English language translation of Hunger, or Sult, by Knut Hamsun. Translated by Mary Chavelita Dunne under the pseudonym of George Edgerton. In publisher's original grey cloth, stamped in black on front and spine, with illustration of front. A few stains to the cloth (my opinion: they are such perfect splatters, as to add to the impression the cover gives the story). Spine slightly darkened with minor chipping to head and tail. Solid and tightly bound. Tape ghosts on endpapers. Top edge trimmed, long and lower edges deckled. The interior is lightly toned, with some infrequent spotting. All is solid and legible. Autobiographical in origin, considered one of the first modernist novels, Hunger tells the story of a destitute writer in Oslo on a constant search for nourishment. A collection of risque poetry, author's include, Earl H. Emmons, Eugene Field, Rudyard Kipling, James Whitcomb Riley, Thomas Hardy, anonymous (several), and Waldo Pierce. A collection of short stories about the young Gallegher who solves mysteries. The author is now chiefly remembered for this collection as well as his war correspondence during the 1890's-World War I. Bound in green cloth over boards with gilded lettering and designs on the front and spine. Slight lean, minor scuffing at corners. Solidly bound. Neat signature of former owner on title page, otherwise the interior is clean and clear throughout. Eight pages of ads in the back and four pages of ads on, "Famous Women of the French Court." In original dust jacket in protective sheet with only '7/6 net' printed inside interior flaps. Jacket is in exceoptional condition with two light spots on spine. Bound in green grain cloth over boards with gilded symbol on front and gilded lettering on spine; a very slight lean and pinprick size scuff on one corner, otherwise very fine. All edges untrimmed, including all top edges uncut with nearly all pages never opened. Toning between pages vi-vii, some minor inclusions in paper. Overall, a very fine copy of this posthumously published book of poetry.  Pages: (12) 202 (2)     Dimensions: 7¾ x 5¼ x 1 .
