Description:
Boldly Inscribed on first front page: To Dan Moll, With warmest best regards Gerald R. FordBook and dust jacket both in fine condition. Very small bump and tiny chip in jacket at spine. Clean text. Unclipped ($12.95). Protected by Brodart book jacket cover. When Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974, Ford automatically assumed the presidency. This made him the only person to become the nation's chief executive without having been previously voted into either the presidential or vice-presidential office by the Electoral College. Immediately after Ford took the oath of office in the East Room of the White House, he spoke to the assembled audience in a speech that was broadcast live to the nation. Ford noted the peculiarity of his position: "I am acutely aware that you have not elected me as your president by your ballots, and so I ask you to confirm me as your president with your prayers."
