This volume is in good condition. there is some wear to the cloth covering the boards, particularly on the spine. There is bumping to the corners as well. Description:
Isabel Ecclestone Mackay was a Canadian poet born in Ontario in 1875. She began publishing poetry at the age of fifteen in newspapers and magazines in Canada. Miss Witterly's China (1896) and a book of poems called Pansies for thoughts (1898) were her first published books. She became well-known thanks to winning the prize for best Canadian historical poem given by the Toronto Globe newspaper in 1907 and again in 1910.
After marrying and moving to Vancouver and having children her literary talents turned to the composition of verse for children for which she became best known. The first collection of these was published in 1918 under the title The shining ship, and other verse for children.
This volume is a collection of all of the poetry written by Mackay, including those published in The shining ship and Fires of Driftwood as well as other poems that had until this book not been published in book form. This is number 330 of a limited edition run of 536 copies.
