Description:
Southern Historical Press, Inc., 2004. Soft cover. New/No Jacket. By: Bill Eddleman, Pub. 2004, 188 pages, 8 1/2" x 11", Index, ISBN #0-89308-800-5. Perry County lies in the extreme Eastern portion of the state boarding the Mississippi River. It was created from Ste. Genevieve District in 1821. Many of these early settlers came from the East from such states as: Pennsylvania, Kentucky and North Carolina. Since these families and others arrived here before the Louisiana Purchase, they received large influx of settlers heading West. It is surrounded by the counties of: Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Ste. Genevieve and St. Francois. The deeds within this book start with the creation of the county (1821) but many have earlier dates because they were not officially recorded until after it was carved off of Ste. Genevieve.

Southern Historical Press, Inc., 2005. Hardcover. New/No Jacket. By: Bill Eddleman, Pub. 2005, 282 pages, Hard Cover, Index, ISBN #0-89308-807-2. Haywood County was created in 1808 from Buncombe County, N.C. It was a important migration path for settlers moving into Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina. Deeds are GREAT source for genealogical research due to the many and varied family members that are mentioned. Not only will the reader find the deed transaction itself, but often times such things as: marriages, relinquishment of dower, divisions of family farms among heirs, remarriages of widows are just a few of the matters you can anticipate finding within records of deeds. Another very special note, the author has included a slave index to help those persons researching their African-American lines.
