Miles Davis made his brilliant musical debut in the seminal bebop bands of Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. With his own innovative band he created the 'Birth of the Cool' era of the early 1950s and recorded such classic albums as 'Porgy and Bess' and 'Sketches of Spain'. As his music evolved, Miles organised one sensational group after another, featuring such musical giants as Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderley. It was Miles's great bands of the 1960s that pioneered the fusion movement.
Miles Davis died in September 1991.
