A reprint of a dime novel, perhaps the first of the Deadwood Dick series, attributed to Edward Wheeler, self-described 'sensationalist novelist' although perhaps ghost written by Jesse Cowdrick (see Southern Illinois University Library website). GOOD condition. Outer wrappers split along the hinges and somewhat tenuously attached. Moderate to heavy browning. Some chipping and minor tearing along the extremities. Staples rusted. Faint pencil note on the upper front cover, with a number impressed near the same locale.
