The bulletin celebrated the opening of the art exhibit "Life in Philadelphia," which was the inaugural exhibit at the Oriental Wing of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1940. Contains numerous black and white reproduction of the art work at the exhibit, with a catalogue of oil paintings. Also includes a Forward by Henry Clifford, "A Note on the Iconography of Philadelphia" by Boies Penrose, and a preface to an unfinished novel by Owen Wister, author of The Virginian. In addition, this copy contains a laid-in list of publications of the City History Society of Philadelphia--probably also from 1940, and a typed/copied memorial to a Mr. Harry A.
