Useful reference that gives brief sketches of a wide variety of craftsmen and manufacturers, including silversmiths, cabinet makers, stone cutters, sign painters, engravers, glass ware makers, upholsterers, clock makers, and much more. One of 500 copies.

New York: Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, 1966. Softcover. Square quarto. 341, [2] pages. Very good with light extremity rubs, slight fading, and a faint vertical spine crease.. Black and white photographs. Kaprow's important book on the then emerging field of performance art. It has the special merit of documenting this movement from within, at the beginning, in real time. He had originally written this work in 1959-1960, revised it in 1961, and revised it yet again for its first publication, here. Alluding to the rapidly shifting art scene, he notes in the Preface that "If I wrote it again it would be a different book.

Black and white photograph. 1931 Walker Evans photograph, sometimes known as "Bed and Stove, Truro, Massachusetts," printed by Evans in 1941 for the exhibition "American Photographs at $10" at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. SIGNED twice on the mount by Evans. <br /> <br /> The exhibition was aimed at promoting photography as an art form to the general American public, and helping photographers to sell their work as such. Nine American photographers agreed to participate, submitting a single photograph each to the show. They included Berenice Abbott, Ansel Adams, Walker Evans, Helen Levitt, among the others. [New York?]: (Gill Engraving Company?), 1905. Near Fine. Framed original, black and white animated art piece depicting a colonial print shop and the arrival of a new hand screw press. Appears to be acrylic on artists' board.. One of a series of illustrations by E. M. Gill which were featured in Artemas Ward's advertising trade journal, "Fame," around the turn of the 20th century. Nicely matted and framed.

Translation by Dermot T. Cooke. Introduction by Enzo Carli. Primarily a catalogue of Marini's work, with notes and captions. Red textured paper over boards with gilt stamped spine and upper board lettering. Minor bump to lower fore corner of lower board. Jacket has overall yellowing, a .5" x .125" hole near top edge of front panel, a 1" closed tear at lower edge of front panel near joint fold, rubs and wrinkles at extremities, and some surface abrasions. Still a presentable jacket, and one which has preserved the book itself in very nice condition. Contains an index to the etchings.. Jacket in Mylar protector.

London: Oldburne, 1958. First printing. Cloth over boards. Octavo. 222 pages. Bound in red cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine titles. No significant wear to book Jacket has a couple of short, cleanly closed edge tears, a few tiny rubs, and a hint of browning to edges of rear panel. Fine in a fine unclipped dust jacket.. Black and white frontispiece and photographic plates. George Burchett was kicked out of school at age 12 for tattooing his classmates. After a stint in the Royal Navy--from which he absconded--he became a full-time tattoo artist in 1900.<br /> <br /> He served a broad clientele, including the wealth upper class and European royalty. Burchett pioneered cosmetic tattooing in the 1930s with innovations such as permanently darkening eyebrows. <br /> <br /> Burchett died suddenly in 1953, but left a trove of documents, pictures, annotated appointment books, a diary, and even a draft of a memoir. Bound in coarse off-white cloth over boards with dark blue titles and ornaments to spin and upper board, dark blue topstain. scattered faint brown spotting to boards, rear endpaper browned along gutter, front. Jacket has some minor extremity wear, touch of fading to spine, shallow chips at spine ends and fore corner tips, and some slight surface wear. A beautiful copy overall.. Black & white chapter heads, cuts. Rockwell Kent had just finished illustrating his famous edition of Moby Dick for the Lakeside Press when he set out on a voyage to Greenland with a couple of friends. The were shipwrecked, but that didn't stop the adventure. This is that story, superbly written and stunningly illustrated as only Kent could. Printed by William A. Kittredge at the Lakeside Press. Another lovely piece of book design. Uncommon first edition in jacket, damned scarce in this condition.

1980. Original. Single sheet. Approximately 13 1/2" x 17. Fine condition. Pastel on paper. Untitled original art in pastels by award winning courtroom and journalistic sketch artist, Freda L. Reiter. The scene depicts an active Cuban cigar and rum market. <br /> <br /> Reiter studied drawing in Mexico City under Diego Rivera. She worked in Philadelphia and New York as a courtroom sketch artist for newspaper and television. Her most famous such sketches are her coverage of the Watergate trials.

A portfolio by Sore Dove Press of San Francisco celebrating Lawrence Ferlinghetti's 2007 poem "Pity the Nation." There are two letterpress copies of the poem in different formats, each signed and numbered by Ferlinghetti. There is an envelope of 8 photographs of Ferlinghetti with the artist and publisher, Soheyl Dahl. There are original signed paintings by Dahl. There is a bound copy of the email correspondence between Ferlinghetti, Dahl, and the printer regarding this project. Both Dahl and the printer, Bill Roberts, have signed this packet of correspondence. <br /> <br /> This is copy #3 of the portfolio, and belonged to Bill Roberts of Bottle of Smoke Press.

This rarely seen poster of the Beatles was part of a promotional package commissioned by the City of Liverpool in 1974 to promote tourism based on the Beatles. Though the Beatles had been broken up for four years by the Liverpool began promoting Beatles tourism, it is now a significant part of their local economy. <br /> <br /> There is no artist credited on this psychedelic piece.

Near fine, with some insignificant edge wear and old creases rendered nearly imperceptible by the professional backing.. Pictorial map. One of the more famous of the colorful pictorial maps by brilliant artist of the genre, Ruth Taylor White. In this gorgeous map, commissioned by California's Wine Advisory Board, she depicts the bountiful vineyards, wine-drinking inhabitants, and natural wonders of California in sharp contrast to the barrenness of neighboring Nevada and Arizona. The map is bordered with frieze containing quotes about wine at top and bottom margins.
