Black and white photographs. Kaprow's important book on the then emerging field of performance art. It has the special merit of documenting this movement from within, at the beginning, in real time. He had originally written this work in 1959-1960, revised it in 1961, and revised it yet again for its first publication, here. Alluding to the rapidly shifting art scene, he notes in the Preface that "If I wrote it again it would be a different book.

Black and white photograph. 1931 Walker Evans photograph, sometimes known as "Bed and Stove, Truro, Massachusetts," printed by Evans in 1941 for the exhibition "American Photographs at $10" at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. SIGNED twice on the mount by Evans. <br /> <br /> The exhibition was aimed at promoting photography as an art form to the general American public, and helping photographers to sell their work as such. Translation by Dermot T. Cooke. Introduction by Enzo Carli. Primarily a catalogue of Marini's work, with notes and captions. Red textured paper over boards with gilt stamped spine and upper board lettering. Minor bump to lower fore corner of lower board. Jacket has overall yellowing, a .5" x .125" hole near top edge of front panel, a 1" closed tear at lower edge of front panel near joint fold, rubs and wrinkles at extremities, and some surface abrasions. Still a presentable jacket, and one which has preserved the book itself in very nice condition. Contains an index to the etchings.. Jacket in Mylar protector.

Black and white frontispiece and photographic plates. George Burchett was kicked out of school at age 12 for tattooing his classmates. After a stint in the Royal Navy--from which he absconded--he became a full-time tattoo artist in 1900.<br /> <br /> He served a broad clientele, including the wealth upper class and European royalty. Bound in coarse off-white cloth over boards with dark blue titles and ornaments to spin and upper board, dark blue topstain. scattered faint brown spotting to boards, rear endpaper browned along gutter, front. Jacket has some minor extremity wear, touch of fading to spine, shallow chips at spine ends and fore corner tips, and some slight surface wear. A beautiful copy overall.. Black & white chapter heads, cuts. Rockwell Kent had just finished illustrating his famous edition of Moby Dick for the Lakeside Press when he set out on a voyage to Greenland with a couple of friends. The were shipwrecked, but that didn't stop the adventure. This is that story, superbly written and stunningly illustrated as only Kent could. Printed by William A. Kittredge at the Lakeside Press. Another lovely piece of book design. Uncommon first edition in jacket, damned scarce in this condition.

The scene depicts an active Cuban cigar and rum market. <br /> <br /> Reiter studied drawing in Mexico City under Diego Rivera. She worked in Philadelphia and New York as a courtroom sketch artist for newspaper and television. Her most famous such sketches are her coverage of the Watergate trials.

There is a bound copy of the email correspondence between Ferlinghetti, Dahl, and the printer regarding this project.
