Established in 1964, the paper was known for its coverage of the counterculture movement and radical politics, as well as its strong anti-Vietnam War stance. Financial and staffing troubles led to its eventual demise in 1978. Early issue, with news on Los Angeles politics and Mayor Sam Yorty and protests by members of the Congress of Racial Equality; a look at the Jazz underground, the financial ties of the UC regents, film reviews, etc. GOOD condition. Moderate general browning. Paper slightly brittle. Minor wrinkling along the extremities. Horizontal fold crease present. Light soiling and creasing. Mailing stamp on the lower front cover.
