[16], 181, [1 (blank)], [5 (index)], [5 (advts.)]pp., contemporary calf, sides decorated with nesting sprinkled panels defined and decorated by blind tooling. Beautiful copy. Not uncommon, but rare in this condition. Adare Manor pencilled shelf number on endpaper.ESTC t4823 KRESS 2553Fleetwood (1656-1723), a zealous whig and Royal Chaplain, was also an able antiquarian and the first English collector of statistics on prices. This work then "brought together all the information he could find on the values of money and the prices of commodities during the Middle Ages in England; and it is still well worth consulting" [Palgrave]. Palgrave was correct as modern scholarship had arrived at figures very close to Fleetwood's.
