A few faint soil marks on the cloth, small smudge on front fly, else a very good copy with the text fresh and clean, lacking the dust jacket. White headed the NAACP for a quarter of a century. Warmly inscribed by White to author Theodore Stempfel: "For Theodore Stempfel, With the admiration and affection of his friend. Walter White." With Stempfel's attractive contemporary bookplate. Stempfel translated a number of works on the American "Turnerbund" movement, a gymnastic union with early roots in Germany, that in the 19th Century was a proponent of socialism and the abolition of slavery.
