Description:
New York and London: G. P. Putnams Sons, 1932. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. 8vo., 782pp. Blue cloth blocked in gilt on the spine and upper board. Fore edge has a couple of spots, else this is a very good copy. The dustwrapper is darkened along the spine with chipping along the top and bottom. It is price-clipped. Alberto Vargas' copy with h is signature on the title page, and again on the dedication poage (with place and date) and finally again on the rear free endpaper. Joaquin Alberto Vargas y Chavez was born in Arequipa, Peru, in 1896, and became the noted painter of pin-up girls. His early career in New York included being the artist for the Ziegfeld Follies and achieving fame as the creator of the Vargas Girls. He later worked for Esquire Magazine and finally for Playboy. A chronicle of humor from the prehistoric times to the twentieth century. .
